AFTERNOON traffic was disrupted when a lorry overturned on the A14 at Felixstowe today.

The accident happened on the Dockspur roundabout on the Ipswich-bound carriageway.

Police and fire crews were called just before 3.30pm.

The driver of the lorry suffered an injury to his leg in the crash.

Two fire crews from Felixstowe and one from the Princes Street station in Ipswich helped make the scene safe and they also sprayed water on the overturned lorry to cool its exhaust.

The road was not completely blocked and traffic was able to move around the lorry but it did cause delays in the afternoon rush-hour.

Police said the road was expected to be partially blocked for several hours while a crane was brought in to lift the lorry off the road.

It was also thought the road surface would need to be repaired, further delaying the reopening of the blocked lanes.
