A LORRY overturned on the busy Seckford roundabout on the south bound carriageway of the A12 near Woodbridge, shedding its load of glass bottles today.

Traffic was slowed to a single lane as the 40ft lorry lay on its side, blocking half the inside carriageway. The accident happened at around 9.35am.

The smell of beer filled the air as hundreds of glass bottles for recycling were strewn over the verges at the side of the road. The weight of the pile, which had spilled through the roof cover, buckled the crash barrier and the area was sealed off.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries

Recovery vehicles fought through the traffic and arrived on the scene an hour later.

Traffic was diverted around the old road while the clean up operation was being carried out.
