LOTTERY-funded projects in Ipswich could get an extra cash boost this year if they scoop an award.

People in the town have been asked to nominate the favourite Lottery-funded cause in the hope it will be given a prize of 2,000.

Last year more than 1.75million of funding was given to charities and community groups in Ipswich, and more than 7million to projects throughout Suffolk.

Now people can nominate those schemes that received grants for the National Lottery Awards 2009.

A National Lottery Awards spokeswoman said: “The National Lottery Awards recognise the hard work, talent and amazing dedication of the people involved in running Lottery-funded projects, large and small. So now it's your chance to make sure your favourite project gets the recognition it deserves.”

The projects that make it to the finals will appear on television and will also have a chance to win a 2,000 cash prize.

To nominate a project visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk or call 0845 070 0112 by 5pm on Friday, March 13.
