LOVE will be in the air when teenage clubbers enjoy a safe dance event which will boost the Vicky Hall Memorial Fund.

A donation from ticket sales from the Valentine's Day Lowbiza event will made to the appeal in memory of the murdered schoolgirl, and also cash from the sale or red roses.

The appeal – to build a sports pavilion to bear Vicky's name – is backed by The Evening Star.

Organisers of the event – which will take place at Central Park nightclub in Sea Road, Felixstowe – have met with Vicky's parents, Graham and Lorinda, to explain to them about the event, which will also promote personal safety.

Lorinda said they had met with Det Sgt Daye Goddard, who had explained the aims and sought their support.

"We are very happy with the aims of the event and we hope the message the organisers put out will be taken on board by the youngsters," she said.

"It sounds a great idea and it is very kind of them to offer a donation for the memorial fund."

The event, which will take place on February 14, is being promoted among 13 to 17 year-olds across the Suffolk Coastal area.

The first Lowbiza event held in Felixstowe attracted around 100 youngsters to enjoy a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free dance event in a safe club environment.

Organisers, who hope this one will see even greater support, also use the events to promote a healthy awareness of real life issues affecting young people.

This time youth workers will focus on personal safety and other issues, including sexual health, and be on hand to promote services and give advice or help.

There will also be competitions, including one on personal safety and another an MC contest for those that fancy getting up on stage to do their things! Prizes will include two mini CD sound systems.

Free transport has been laid on to bring teenagers to Central Park – run by brother and sister, Mark and Lorraine Moseley – from areas outside Felixstowe, including Leiston, Aldeburgh, Saxmundham, Framlingham, Wickham Market, Kesgrave and Woodbridge.

This will be provided by Country Travel of Saxmundham, Belle Coaches of Leiston, Forget Me Not Travel of Otley, and Whincops of Peasenhall.

Tickets for the event are £3 and available from schools and youth clubs, and there will be a limited number on the door priced £4,

For more information, youngsters can call the Lowbiza Hotline – a recorded information line – on 01986 835307.

Lowbiza is organised by a partnership featuring the police, councils, nightclubs, Suffolk Primary Care Groups, crime prevention panels, Millennium Volunteers, Neighbourhood Watch, and the county community education team.
