Lowestoft shop fire under control

THE fire which ripped through an electrical shop in Lowestoft has this afternoon been brought under control.

Fire swept through the Powerhouse Store on London Road North, the main high street in the town.

Fire swept through the Powerhouse Store on London Road North, the main high street in the town.

At its height eight appliances were fighting the blaze which swept to neighbouring flats.

The blaze was brought under control at just after 2pm and the fire service confirmed that nobody was injured.

The fire service were also called to a house fire in Lowestoft at 3pm today.

The fire broke out at Spashett Road on the ground floor of a terraced house. Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel were used. Despite earlier reports nobody was in the house at the time.
