LUSCIOUS the lonely chinchilla could soon be paired up with a pal after her story in The Evening Star sparked interest.

LUSCIOUS the lonely chinchilla could soon be paired up with a pal after her story in The Evening Star sparked interest.

The RSCPA animal centre in Martlesham, where Luscious has been living since March, has received two calls from members of the public who saw the article and wanted to give the cute chinchilla a home.

Luscious was originally from a home in Stowmarket but her owners did not have enough time to look after her and so she was taken to the Martlesham centre.

She has become withdrawn and distressed lately as she has no playmate and so the charity made a desperate appeal on Tuesdayfor someone to come forward and help out.

Now that the process has begun, the charity will be looking to find the most suitable home for her, and after a home visit is approved, she could be with her new owner and a chinchilla friend within a fortnight.

Becky Fox, deputy manager of the RSPCA, said: “We have had two calls from people about this so it is good it has generated some interest. Chinchillas are not usually a species many people go for, unlike cats and dogs, as they need special care.”

If you are interested in giving any animals a home, call the centre on 01473 623280.
