An Ipswich Borough council house has been boarded up after magistrates granted a closure order due to ‘drugs-related activity’ taking place in the property.
The council’s maintenance and contracts team visited the house, 15 Wells Close, yesterday to board up the windows and change the locks.
According to a spokesman for the council, the order, which lasts until Tuesday, December 26, was granted under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act due to ‘drugs-related activity’ at the property.
Councillor Alasdair Ross, Ipswich Borough Council’s portfolio-holder for public protection, said he welcomed the magistrates decision to grant a closure order on the borough council owned property.
He said: “We continue to work closely with the Police on these matters and will not tolerate drugs activity or anti–social behaviour in our properties.”
