An Ipswich man who assaulted two of his neighbours will be sentenced next month after the probation service has prepared a report on him.

Before Ipswich Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing today was Matthew Jarman, 42, of Eustace Road, Ipswich, who pleaded guilty to assaulting Thomas Ball by beating on July 20.

At an earlier hearing Jarman also admitted assaulting Ian Davey causing him actual bodily harm and having an axe as an offensive weapon on the same date.

Michael Crimp, prosecuting, said there was a video recording of the incident during which Jarman was holding an axe.

Judge Martyn Levett adjourned the case until the week commencing October 23 for a probation report.

Judge Levett directed Ita Farrelly, who is representing Jarman, to submit a basis of plea before the next hearing and advised Jarman to co-operate with the probation service in the preparation of the report on him.
