Man, 85, attacked with ‘brand new’ crowbar during attempted robbery

An 85-year-old man was hit in the head with a crowbar by man attempting to rob his home in Ipswich.
The offender forced entry into the property in Tuddenham Road between 10.30am and 11.15am yesterday.
The culprit demanded money before striking the resident to the head and hand with a crowbar and then fled.
The crowbar was described as looking “brand new”.
Police said the victim sustained a cut to the hand and small wound to the head and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Nothing was believed to be stolen.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The offender is described as a white man, approximately 5ft 6ins tall, had brown coloured eyes, aged in his early 40s, had a scarf covering the lower part of his face and was wearing a dark coloured jacket.
