A MAN has been arrested after a 75-year-old pedestrian died in a road collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident between a white Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian on Friday morning in Chelmsford.

Just before 8am, a car travelling along Springfield Road from the town near the junction with Llewellyn Close was in collision with the pedestrian. The deceased lived locally and died at the scene.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 22-year-old man from Chelmsford, has been arrested.

The road was closed while police investigated the collision.
