A MAN has been arrested this evening after threatening staff at a newsagents in Sudbury with an imitation firearm and demanding cigarettes.
A MAN has been arrested this evening after threatening staff at a newsagents in Sudbury with an imitation firearm and demanding cigarettes.
The man, believed to be in his early 20s and from the local area, is currently in police custody at Bury St Edmunds police station.
At about 7.05pm a man entered McColls in Market Hill and demanded staff hand over cigarettes, telling them he had a gun in his pocket.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers caught him in the locality shortly after it had been reported and arrested him on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to rob.
The spokesman said the man will be interviewed by officers in the morning.
