POLICE have today arrested a man on suspicion of raping a woman in Ipswich.
The 22-year-old man was arrested by police at 7am today at a house in the town.
The arrest follows a police investigation after a woman in her 20s claimed she was raped in Murray Road, Ipswich, in the early hours of Monday, February 25.
The alleged rape, which happened in a driveway of a house in the road left the victim traumatised and she went home before telling a friend who then informed the police.
The 22-year-old man was due to be questioned by police officers today at Ipswich police station.
On Monday police officers carried out anniversary checks in Murray Road, off Felixstowe Road, between 1.30am and 4am, a week after the alleged attack.
They spoke to pedestrians and motorists to see if they were in the area a week ago and had information which could assist the investigation.
Anyone who was in the area around the time the incident occurred or who has any information in relation to this incident should call Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
