A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at Great Eastern Square in Felixstowe last month.

Police and fire crews were called to the blaze at The Wharf, with police being notified of the fire around 5.30am on February 24. It’s thought the fire was started at the premises after 4am.

On Saturday morning, police arrested the 36-year-old man, from Felixstowe, on suspicion of arson. He was taken into custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he was interviewed in connection with the blaze.

He has now been bailed to return to police on April 25, to allow further enquiries to be carried out.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the fire to come forward and detectives are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around 4am – 5.30am on February 24 or anyone who may have found discarded burnt clothing in Felixstowe that morning.
