Man bailed following serious crash which shut major road in Ipswich

An 82-year-old man has been bailed by police after a crash which left one person in hospital with serious head injuries in Hawthorn Drive on Saturday evening.

The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the incident, and has since been bailed pending further enquiries until November 28.

Hawthorn Drive was closed in both directions while investigation work was carried out by police officers following the incident, which happened at around 8.30pm.

One person was taken to Ipswich Hospital with serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.
