A man stopped a would-be burglar when he caught him trying to break into his Ipswich home.

The incident happened around 7.30pm on Sunday, April 30 at a residential address in Digby Road.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “The victim became aware that a man was attempting to gain access into his home via the rear doors, and challenged him.

“The suspect fled the property and it is believed that nothing was stolen.”

A search of the area was carried out, assisted by the police dog unit, but the culprit was not found.

The suspect is described as around 6ft tall, 20 to 22 years old and of athletic build. He was dressed all in black.

Witnesses or anybody with any information are asked to call Ipswich CID at Suffolk Constabulary on 101 quoting reference number 32243/17.
