A man has been charged by police investigating burglaries at two jewellery shops in Felixstowe in which police officers were allegedly assaulted.
Reece Tye, 21, of Winalls Yard in Norwich, has been charged with possession of a knife blade/pointed article in a public place and two counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of his or her duty, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said. Tye is due to appear at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich tomorrow (December 28).
The force spokesman said Tye has also been released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of burglary by police investigating break-ins at jewellery stores Gorgeous Jewels and Boreham Christopher, which are next door to each other in Hamilton Road in Felixstowe.
The incident was reported to police at 11pm on Christmas Day.
Tye has been remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance tomorrow (December 28).
