A TEENAGER is today on police bail after being charged in relation to an incident when an Ipswich bowling alley was evacuated following reports of a man wielding a gun.

Sheldon Finch, of Woodbridge Road, was charged last night with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The 19-year-old has been bailed to appear at the South East Magistrates Court at 10am on Wednesday, September 16.

Police officers were called to Solar Bowl in Sproughton Road at about 9pm on Sunday to reports of a male in the premises with a firearm.

People were evacuated from the premises and the surrounding area was searched on Sunday night but the search failed to locate the male seen with a black metal BB gun.

The BB gun was located and seized by police.

The 19-year-old was arrested at his home yesterday afternoon on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was taken to Ipswich police station and interviewed.
