A 23-year-old man has been charged on suspicion of breaking into two Ipswich homes and stealing a car.

Thomas Lee, of no fixed address, is being held in custody ahead of a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court.

It comes after a window was forced open to gain entry into a home in All Saints Road overnight between July 13-14.

A set of keys were taken from inside and then used to steal a vehicle parked on the street nearby.

Then around midnight on July 14, an insecure front door was used to break in to a property in Kensington Road and a set of keys were again stolen from inside.

An attempt was made to start a vehicle parked nearby but the victim disturbed the crime.

Lee was arrested on July 15 and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

He was charged with two counts of burglary, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a specimen, driving with no insurance and making off without payment for fuel.

He appeared before magistrates today and was remanded to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
