A MAN has died after he was in collision with a car driven by an Ipswich couple as he attempted to cross the A12.The incident happened at Witham near to the junction with the B1389 at 11.

A MAN has died after he was in collision with a car driven by an Ipswich couple as he attempted to cross the A12.

The incident happened at Witham near to the junction with the B1389 at 11.50pm on Saturday .

The man had been trying to cross the carriageway, heading in the Ipswich direction, when he was in a collision with the Peugeot 306.

After colliding with the car he landed on the carriageway and was run over by more on-coming cars.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the Ipswich couple were taken to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford.

A 60-year-old man suffered wrist injuries and a 59-year-old woman was suffering from shock but both were released from the hospital at lunchtime on Sunday.

The A12 was closed in both directions for five hours after the incident and although the identity of the man is unknown he is thought to be in his 40s and from the nearby area.
