A 25-year-old man from south London who was arrested following a robbery at a convenience store in Claydon has been charged.

At around 5.35am on Sunday, three men wearing balaclavas forced their way into the One Stop shop in Ipswich Road.

The two staff members present were told to sit on the floor where they were tied-up, with one of the suspects implying that he had a knife, although this was not seen. The men then stole a quantity of cash before leaving the building at around 6am.

The robbery charge relates to “a quantity of bank notes and postal orders to the value of at least £10,000.”

Michael Afolayan, of Swan Mead, Southwark, has been charged with robbery in connection with the incident.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court today.
