The victim was fatally injured when he suffered crush injuries in a collision with a forklift truck.
The incident happened shortly before 11am on Tuesday at the Cliff Quay area of Ipswich docks. The man was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital, but later died.
A spokesman for the East Anglian Ambulance Trust said it had been called to the accident at about 10.54am on Tuesday.
"A man had been crushed by a forklift truck and was rushed to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulance," he added.
Suffolk police confirmed they had attended a fatal industrial accident at a fertiliser factory on Cliff Quay in Ipswich.
