IPSWICH police are appealing for information today after an 11-year-old boy was approached by a man yesterday afternoon.

The young boy was walking along Shenstone Drive at around 3.50pm when he was approached by a man who suggested to the boy that he should come with him. The boy refused, but the man continued to follow the boy and grabbed him by the arm. The offender let go when some other people started to approach them on the footpath. The assailant then walked off.

The offender is described as a white male aged around 70 years, he was unshaven and wore a blue scarf and reddish pink checked jacket.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed this incident or from anyone who may recognise the offender from the description. Calls should be made to PC Barry Humm at Ipswich Police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
