Man guilty of Sarah Payne murder

A JURY has convicted a man of the murder and abduction of eight-year-old schoolgirl Sarah Payne.

After nine hours of deliberation, the jury at Lewes Crown Court returned a unanimous verdict of guilty on the charges against Roy Whiting.

Moments after the verdicts were given, the court heard of Whiting's previous conviction for kidnapping and indecently assaulting a nine-year-old girl in West Sussex in 1995.
