Man hurt in late-night brawl

A MAN is recovering after receiving serious head injuries in a mass brawl outside an Ipswich night spot.

A MAN is recovering today after receiving serious head injuries in a mass brawl outside an Ipswich night spot.

The victim, whose identity has not been released by police, was taken to hospital following the incident in Cardinal Park. His injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening

Police and the ambulance service were alerted to the fight outside Brannigans night club in the early hours of yesterday > morning.

A group of between 15 to 20 people are said to have been involved in the fight which happened just before 1am.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident but police have issued a description of a man believed to have been involved in the brawl.

He is described as a white male, about 5ft 6ins tall, between 25 and 30-years-old with brown receding hair. He is said to have been wearing a grey T-shirt and black jeans.

A police spokesman said they would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

She said: "One man received serious injuries and is currently being treated at Ipswich Hospital. Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 01473 383100."

The victim is believed to have sustained his injuries after falling over and hitting his head on a concrete post.
