A FELIXSTOWE man has been bound over to keep the peace after threatening a police officer who had pushed him over.

Aaron Pryke, 18, of Crossgate Field, appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates' court on Friday to answer a charge of putting a police officer in fear or provocation of violence.

Pryke was said to have used threatening words and behaviour after the incident, which happened on July 30.

He was one of five people charged with the offence, although for the legal reasons the others could not be named as they are all under 18 years of age.

Prosecuting, Anita Addison said: "The main culprits were two other offenders but Mr Pryke was seen clenching his fists and grinding his teeth.

"He used the words, 'I'll have you', which is seen as threatening behaviour."

The court then heard of how Pryke was pushed to the ground by the officer, who admitted the fact in his statement.

Mrs Addison said: "The police officer at the scene was faced with a very difficult situation."

Defending, Naomi Turner said: "As a result of being pushed he fell over. Perhaps understandably he became agitated but he accepts his behaviour."

The charges against Pryke were dismissed to bring his punishment in the line with that dished out to his fellow offenders, who were all bound over to keep the piece.

Chairman of the bench Fennella Blastland bound Pryke over to keep the peace for a period of one year for a total of £100.
