A 26-year-old has been remanded in custody after appearing in court following an incident in Chesterton Close in Ipswich.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent after police were called at about 7.45pm on Sunday evening, 26 February.

Lee Nazeer, of Chesterton Close, was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm, namely a handgun, with intent to cause two individuals to believe that unlawful violence would be used against them or another, and he was also charged with being concerned in production of four cannabis plants.

He was taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, part of the constabulary’s headquarters estate, for questioning.

He appeared by videolink before South East Suffolk Magistrates sitting in Ipswich on Tuesday 28 February, and was subsequently remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on March 28.

He did not enter a plea at this stage of the legal proceedings.
