A man who became trapped after his car came off the road and into a field close to the A1071 near Hadleigh has been taken to hospital.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, were called to the scene near the A1071’s junction with Hadleigh Road at 8.52am today.

Fire crews from Leaden Roding, Hadleigh, Sudbury and Long Melford were sent to the scene at 9.25am after ambulance crews discovered the man had become trapped in his car. They used cutting equipment to release him from the vehicle.

An ambulance attended and treated the man driving the car, believed to be in his 20s, with a suspected back injury.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further care. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for the East of England ambulance service said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on the A1071 near Hadleigh at 8.52am today.

“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.

“Paramedics are treating one man believed to be in his 20s for a possible back injury.

“Fire service colleagues are also on the scene as the man needs to be extricated from his vehicle.”
