Man injured in armed assault in Richmond Road, Ipswich

Officers have been called to reports of an armed assault in Ipswich this morning involving a man with a gun.
Police were called around 4am to a house in Richmond Road, near Norwich Road, where the occupant reported being assaulted by three men, one of whom was wielding a handgun.
No shots were fired in the incident.
A police spokesman said the victim suffered gashes to the head, and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
The National Police Air Service joined a dog unit and armed officers from Suffolk Constabulary in a search of the area this morning.
The three men being sought are white, aged 20-30 years and wearing hoodies, jeans and trainers.
At the time of the attack they all had their faces covered.
Police remain at the scene while enquiries continue, with forensics officers currently carrying out work at the home.
A spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service, said: “An ambulance crew attended and treated a man who had suffered a head injury who was taken to hospital for further care.
“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
Residents in the area have said they were unaware of the incident.
One resident nearby, who did not wish to be named, said: “I woke up because the dog next door was yapping [at that time], but I didn’t see or hear anything.
“We don’t have any trouble down here – it’s a very quiet street.”
Another resident added: “You don’t get anything like that down this street, it’s remarkably quiet down here.
“You get the normal stuff but nothing like that.”
One resident said that it didn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary because “you see police down here a lot”.
