The 22-year-old was working in Wangford Road, Reydon, when the accident took place at around 1.14pm.
Paramedics were called to the scene, as was a fire crew from Southwold who used a basket stretcher and a turntable ladder to rescue the man, who had fallen on to more scaffolding.
The air ambulance was also called.
The man was taken in a land ambulance to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, Norfolk.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service confirmed the man had suffered spinal injuries which were “possibly serious”.
