FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a man from a ship in Cliff Quay, Ipswich today.
Special rescue crews from Felixstowe, Stowmarket, and Bungay, as well as crews from Princes Street and Colchester Road, were called to the scene at about 8.50am. A stretcher was used to carry the 56-year-old captain off the ship, which had docked in Ipswich earlier this morning.
He was then placed in the care of paramedics and taken to Ipswich Hospital, suffering from severe abdominal pains.
