AN elderly man, who is believed to have been run over by his own car, is today recovering at home.
The 81-year-old was found lying injured next to the driveway wall of a nearby neighbour while his red Renault car had crashed into the house in Tuddenham St Martin.
Russell Beckett, 84, was asleep in his Keightley Way home at about 5.55am yesterday when he was woken up by loud noises. He rushed out the front door and discovered the man lying in rubble.
Mr Beckett said the man goes to buy the papers every morning and delivers them to a neighbour. He claimed it looked like he had been run over by his own car.
The injured pensioner was taken to Ipswich Hospital with injuries and discharged late yesterday . He was due to be visited by nurses today.
Mr Beckett said: “I went to see him yesterday. He is reasonably ok. He was very much shocked by what had happened.
“His bed has been moved downstairs. He has got a few injuries and scratches. He wasn't up to too much talking.”
Mr Beckett's wall was smashed in the incident but he said the damage is minimal.
