A MAN involved in a fight that led to a Felixstowe man receiving life-threatening injuries has today been ordered to do 180 hours unpaid work.Gareth Thompson, 26, of Manning Road, Bury St Edmunds, was found not guilty following a trial of causing grievous bodily harm to 37-year-old Jason Evans on February 11 last year.
A MAN involved in a scuffle that led to a Felixstowe man receiving life-threatening injuries has today been ordered to do 180 hours unpaid work.
Gareth Thompson, 26, of Manning Road, Bury St Edmunds, was found not guilty following a trial of causing grievous bodily harm to 37-year-old Jason Evans on February 11 last year.
He was however found guilty of a second charge of affray.
Mr Evans, who was with a friend at the time, suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain following the incident at Ipswich train station involving Thompson and another untraced male.
Appearing at Ipswich Crown Court for sentencing today Judge John Devaux ordered that Thompson do 180 hours unpaid work and pay costs of £500.
No order for compensation was made.
