PARAMEDICS have today taken a young man to hospital following an incident by the River Gipping in Ipswich.
Officers from Suffolk Police were called to the area by the ambulance service following reports that a man was threatening to harm himself and potentially others by the river, off Yarmouth Road.
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said they arrived at 11.50am to find a man with his wrists bleeding.
It is thought the 20-year-old man was standing underneath the bridge and had harmed himself.
Three knives were recovered from the scene.
Armed police attended but were not required, and the four police cars and an ambulance, which were at the scene, have now left.
The man will be spoken to by police at a later time.
