A MAN has been head-butted and threatened with a Stanley knife by a group of youths on mountain bikes.

The 53-year-old was walking home on the footpath alongside the River Gipping at Tanners View, Ipswich, when the incident happened at about 5.45pm on Tuesday.

As he was walking, his path was blocked by a group of five men on mountain bikes.

They made abusive remarks to him, head-butted him and threatened him with a silver Stanley knife. As the victim put his hand up to protect his face he received a cut to his thumb. The man who head-butted the victim is described as black, aged about 17-years-old, with short dark hair and was wearing dark blue jeans, a black fleece jacket and white trainers. The man who produced the knife is described as black and aged 17 to 20-years-old. The third man is described as black and aged 17-to 20-years-old. The forth is described as white and aged 17 to 20-years old and the fifth man is also described as white and aged 17 to 20-years old. They all rode off towards Yarmouth Road.
