A woman walking her dog has been attacked by a man who threw an unknown liquid in her face.

The victim, in her 30s, was walking her dog on Tuesday in Ipswich around 7.15pm.

At the junction of Melville Road and Wellesley Road she passed a man leaning on the Melville Road sign.

He threw a clear liquid from a bottle into her face which caused her skin to redden and some swelling.

The victim was taken to hospital and though the liquid did not appear to be corrosive, more tests are needed to identify what it was.

The suspect is described as black, around 5ft 11in tall, of skinny build and wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood up, yellow t-shirt, dark blue jeans and sunglasses.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident, is asked to contact DC Olie Walker on 101 quoting reference 55330/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
