A MAN arrested during a dawn raid on a Melton house is due back in court next week after pleading guilty to performing an act of gross indecency in front of a child.

British transport police swooped on the house in November to arrest Robert Daniel Jeffrey following an appeal on BBC TV's Crimewatch.

The 33-year-old, who had been lodging in the house, was charged with committing a sex act in front of a nine-year-old girl as she waited on a railway platform near Euston station in London.

Jeffrey pleaded guilty to the charge following a December hearing at Horseferry Magistrates, London and is due to back in court on January 17 to hear reports, when it is believed he will be sentenced.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

Two detectives from Euston, Detective Constable Alison Mackintosh and Dc Danny Callahan and BTP officers from Ipswich were all involved in the early morning raid on November 28.

He was originally charged with causing ABH and gross indecency toward the young girl but the charge of ABH has since been dropped.

Although Jeffrey had never actually touched the girl the charge of ABH had been brought about by him causing psychological harm to her.

Images of Jeffrey were shown to Crimewatch viewers after he was caught on CCTV cameras during the July incident.

The nine-year-old was waiting with her 19-year-old sister at Hadley Woods railway station near Euston.

Having missed one train they had been waiting for around five minutes when the older girl realised her sister had become very distressed and saw a man fondling himself on the platform in front of her.

When she screamed he ran off some stairs and was seen a short time later talking and laughing on his mobile phone.
