Martlesham Heath: Tackle 10k for cancer charity

RUNNERS are being urged to don their trainers and sign up for an annual race.

Organised by the Lions Club of Woodbridge and District, the 20th annual Martlesham Heath 10km race and fun run will take place in October.

The event, which is established in the UK Athletics RunBritain race programme, will raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and local causes.

Chris Woods, of the Lions Club, said: “The Martlesham Heath 10km is a flat course and a great race with many club runners and novices taking part, and together with the 2.5km fun run it gives everyone the opportunity to take on a personal challenge and soak up the atmosphere of a major event.”

This year’s race will take place on October 14.

Max Griffiths, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “The more people that sign up, the bigger a difference we can make to the lives of those affected by cancer in Suffolk, so whether you’re a regular runner trying for a personal best in the 10km, or a youngster doing your first 2.5km fun run, please go to the website and register to take part.”

Registration is now open via www.woodbridgelions.org.uk and people are being urged to collect as much sponsorship as possible.
