A SUFFOLK man has been cleared of sexually assaulting a drunk woman.

Neil Addison denied indecent assault and was found not guilty following a trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

During the trial the court heard that Addison , 33, of Burgess Place, Martlesham Heath, had allegedly taken advantage of the victim while she slept in her bed.

Gerrard Renouf, prosecuting, told the court that Addison had attended a house party in Trimley St Mary.

After a meal, in which red and white wine had been consumed, everyone in the house carried on drinking in an area which had been converted into a bar.

Later in the evening the alleged victim felt unwell due to her alcohol consumption and went to bed. It was while she was sleeping that Addison allegedly performed oral sex on her without consent, the court was told.

When she awoke the next morning, Addison had allegedly told her they had sex the previous night.

Giving evidence the woman said she couldn't remember anything about the alleged incident.

A guest at the party told the court he saw the alleged victim of the assault and Addison alone in a bedroom.

He said the woman was lying naked on the bed and Addison was touching her intimately.

He said the woman appeared to be unconscious and was not making any sound or moving.
