SUFFOLK'S "missing mayor" has delivered a shocking two-fingered insult to fellow councillors who criticised her when she moved to France during her term of office.

The amazing outburst happened as departing Sudbury mayor, Dee Braham, was questioned about the criticism she had received from other councillors.

In an emotional outburst, she defiantly lifted a two-fingered insult into the air and said: "This is what I think about the councillors who have criticised me because I have been a good mayor."

Mrs Braham's controversial response happened in front of her shocked deputy, Nigel Bennett, as the pair rehearsed at the Town Hall for the traditional annual mayor-making ceremony.

Mr Bennett – who was officially handed the town's mayoral chains last night – shook his head in disbelief as Mrs Braham made her rude gesture.

Mrs Braham hit the headlines after turning her back on her civic duties to set up home in France without leaving contact numbers or an address. It left the town unable to contact its own mayor.

Last year Mrs Braham tore up her party membership card in front of the town's Conservative Club in a row over voting rights.
