Two members of the public stepped in to help apprehend a suspected thief in the car park of a fast-food restaurant today.

Suffolk Constabulary was called to the incident near McDonald’s in the Ravenswood area of Ipswich – where a stabbing recently took place – just after 2.50pm.

The male suspect fled when approached by a police community support officer (PCSO).

Two men who saw the drama unfold jumped in to help the male PCSO capture the man.

One of the members of the public was reported to have been assaulted by the suspect in the process.

The suspect – a man in his 30s – was arrested on suspicion of theft and assault.

Earlier this month, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed during an unrelated incident in the same McDonald’s car park, located in Hening Avenue.
