FRIENDS and classmates of Ipswich schoolboy Alex Sinadinos took part in a football match at Copleston High School on Saturday, a year to the day after he died in a road accident.

Alex, 14, died after he was involved in an accident with two cars on Foxhall Road and the match, which took place between Copleston and East Side Under 16's, was well attended according to family friend Gillian Dunnett.

She said: "A lot of the boys from East Side go to Copleston so it was a good turn out. All the boys who took part were 15-16 and knew Alex from when he used to train with Copleston, he was a keen footballer who loved all sports and played for Bramford."

Alex's friends were joined by most of the teachers from the school, including his form tutor Craig McCartney, who refereed the match.

Also in attendance was Alex's mother Maggie who was presented with a bunch of flowers and £15, the proceeds of a raffle.

In a good-tempered 60-minute match, which was played in relatively rain-free conditions, Copleston won a tight match 3-2.

In the summer, a disco is also being planned in Alex's memory.
