“It doesn’t matter if you lost your loved one this year or 20 years ago, there should be an opportunity to remember them.”
This the view of funeral celebrant Donna Sparrow, who is creating a special place in Ipswich for families to pay tribute to people who have died.
On May 20 a ‘memory tree’ will be planted at Seven Hills Crematorium in Felixstowe Road.
In the ground with it will go dozens of notes which have already ready been written at two events during the Christmas period.
“They will be planted in the ground so they will combine with the roots and the memories will be intertwined with the tree as it grows,” said Donna, who is from Ipswich and has worked as a self-employed funeral celebrant for three years.
Once the tree is in place, anyone is welcome visit.
“We don’t all have our loved ones near so it’s a peaceful place where we can write a memory or a note on a birthday, Christmas, special occasion or when we are just feeling down and want to be close to them,” Donna added.
The tree, will was donated by Seven Hills Crematorium, will be planted at 10.30am on May 20, and members of the public are invited to join.
