Two men were today being questioned after an elderly driver died in a road accident in Ipswich.The men were held on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident.
TWO men were today arrested after an elderly man died following an accident in Ipswich.
Police launched a manhunt to find two people travelling in a Honda car after an accident on the junction of Warrington Road into Anglesea Road at around 9.30am.
The 80-year-old driver of a Nissan Micra sustained serious head injuries and was found to be dead on arrival at Ipswich Hospital.
After the crash, the Honda left the area and was later found abandoned behind Cumberland Towers at the junction of Norwich Road and Bramford Road.
Roads around the area were sealed off as forensic experts gathered evidence.
Police arrested two men in connection with the crash at about 12.45pm today.
A 40-year-old man from Ipswich and a second man have been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an injury road traffic collision.
They were arrested near Woodbridge Road and taken to Ipswich police station for questioning.
Police appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact them on 01473-613500.
