A teenager has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after he and another boy were attacked in Ipswich.

police are hunting a pair of balaclava-clad men in connection with the double stabbing.

The attack happened in Whitland Close, off Stoke Park Drive at around 9.15pm yesterday.

One of the victims, who are both 17-years-old, was approached in the street and stabbed. He sustained a wound to what officers described as his upper left back.

The other teenager tried to intervene and received a wound to the palm of one of his hands, and a cut to his neck.

Police investigating the attack said the hand injury was the most serious and could be life-changing.

Both youths, who are from Ipswich, were taken to hospital and at least one of them is believed to have undergone surgery.

Police have declined to say which hospital they were taken to.

Officers are now hunting their attacker and the man who was with him.
