TWO men were being quizzed by police today following a crash that left a motorcyclist in hospital.The incident happened at about 2.25pm on Saturday on the B1456 at Wherstead, near to the foot of the Orwell Bridge.

The incident happened at about 2.25pm on Saturday on the B1456 at Wherstead, near to the foot of the Orwell Bridge.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a Suzuki bike, was in collision with a Ford Fiesta, which left the scene following the incident.

The man, who is from Shotley Gate, was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital after the smash with serious but not life-threatening leg injuries.

Police arrested two men, both from the Stoke area of Ipswich, at the scene of the crash a short while after. They are currently being held in custody at the town's police station in connection with the incident.

Police had mounted a search of the area, using dogs and the force helicopter.

Later on Saturday, at around 5.50pm, fire crews were called to the junction of Stoke Park Drive and Waltham Close in Ipswich to cut two drivers out of their vehicles following a crash.

Two crews, from Colchester Road and Princes Street, Ipswich attended the accident, using hydraulic equipment to take the roofs off the cars.

One person was released from a car, while another was freed from a white van.

Both of the drivers were taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance with non-serious injuries.

Elsewhere in Ipswich, the drivers of Nissan and Metro cars were taken to hospital following a crash in Foxhall Road at 10.40am.

The injures sustained by the two drivers were not thought to be serious.

A two-vehicle collision brought traffic to a standstill in Henley Road in Ipswich.

The crash happened at around 7pm on Saturday and involved a grey Ford Escort and a Green Mercedes.

The road was blocked for around 30 minutes while the accident was cleared up. No one was injured in the crash.

And in Hadleigh, where the town was filled with people enjoying the Hadleigh Show, three people had to be cut out of their cars after another road accident.

Two people, one thought to be a pregnant woman, were taken to Ipswich Hospital by ambulance.

The crash, involving two cars, happened at around 2.30pm in Pond Hall Road, near Hook Lane.

Fire crews from Nayland and Hadleigh were called to free the drivers and passenger.

All three were taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital with injuries not said to be life threatening.

Police are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who may have any information regarding the Wherstead crash.
