LORRY driver Walter Purslow and his employer John Price were today sentenced for the accident on the A14 dock spur roundabout at Felixstowe which claimed the life of Martin O' Sullivan.
Purslow and Price both avoided disqualification when they were sentenced for using a vehicle in a dangerous condition on April 21 last year.
Instead both were given three penalty points. Purslow, of Church Close, Cructon, near Shrewsbury, was fined £350 and ordered to pay £60. He was also fined £140 for falsifying a tachograph. Price, of Hawthorn Road, Minsterly, Shrewsbury was fined £500 with £100 costs.
The magistrates heard how a valve lever which regulated the air suspension on the lorry had been left in the wrong position after loading. This left the suspension too high on the lorry and this caused it to roll over crushing Mr O' Sullivan in his BMW.
Father of three Mr O'Sullivan, of Parham, had been driving his silver BMW 3 series towards Felixstowe when the accident happened.
