The owner of a Chinese take-away in Ipswich has spoken of his shock after a van crashed into his restaurant today.
A yellow Mercedes Sprinter collided into the side of Fortune Cookie in Norwich Road at 2pm, ripping off a large panel of wood from a side of the take-away.
Owner Simon Wong said it was lucky the collision did not cause more serious damage.
He said: “I was working inside and I heard this loud bang. It was like a bomb went off.
“I ran outside and thought something had smashed the window, but luckily it hadn’t.
“The van driver apologised and said he would pay for the damage. He said he was reversing up the road when it happened.”
Costs for the repair work are being estimated by a builder.
Police were also called to the scene.
