STOWMARKET: Caroline Wass and her son Alex have a multi-headed monster lurking in their garden.

But this is no gruesome beast from a fairytale - it is a giant sunflower with an amazing 34 flowers and buds adorning it.

The seed was planted with several others earlier this year in their garden at Spencer Way, Stowarket, and has since developed into something quite unique.

Miss Wass, 36, said she and Alex, five, had been told by a neighbour how unusual the enormous bloomer was and were wondering if it was a record-breaker.

She said: “It's got so many flowers on it. A couple of people were walking past the garden to their school and said 'have you counted how many there are - we have never seen anything like it'.

“All our others have only got one flower and they are quite tall but this on is still flowering and budding and we have never seen anything like it before.”
