GET ready to rock and then rock some more because The Moody Blues have added an extra performance to their visit to Ipswich.

When the band announced that the Regent was to be included as a date on their forthcoming tour tickets quickly sold out leaving many fans blue and moody at missing out.

However, the rockers, who have been part of the music scene for more than 30 years, are ready to perform for even more of their fans and have announced an extra concert.

The Moody Blues will now appear live twice on May 25, at 5pm and at 8pm. The latter performance is already a sell out.

The group – John Lodge, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge and Justin Hayward – first made a name for themselves as The Moody Blues with the release of their innovative and groundbreaking album Days of Future Passed in 1966.

The album stayed in the American Billboard charts for more than two years and marked a milestone in rock history as one of the very first concept albums, recorded not only with a symphony orchestra but also in stereo, both of which were uncharted territory at that time.

They took a four year sabbatical in the mid-seventies to pursue solo careers but came back together in 1978 to record Octave. Its success showed the band's fans had remained loyal.

And they still have an overwhelming amount of support today, as their ability to sell out concerts shows.

The name The Moody Blues may mean little to newer generations of music lovers but for those who grew up rocking with the best of them in the late sixties, seventies and eighties they remain one of the greatest rock bands.

The sell-out Moody Blues performance on May 25 is just one indication of the bumper package of shows coming to Ipswich Regent over the coming months.

Four other acts have also already secured sell out audiences for their stop offs in town.

Ipswich favourite, Daniel O'Donnell has once again proved that his appeal never wanes and will enjoy three, full to capacity concerts in less than three weeks.

There will not be a seat left in the house when Deep Purple arrive at the Regent to rock the joint.

Tickets sold out in a flash when pop superstars Atomic Kitten announced they would be performing live in town on March 11.

And comedian Lee Evans has sold out his two dates at East Anglia's largest theatre on May 21 and 22.

n The Moody Blues will play an extra gig at Ipswich Regent at 5pm on May 25. Tickets are on sale now priced £23 and can be bought at the Central Box Office, Princes Street, Ipswich, by calling 01473 433100 or online at www.ipswich-ents.co.uk
