IPSWICH Town today confirmed more of its hugely popular limited edition black away shirts will be available by the end of November.

And fans desperate to get their hands on the collector's items can place their order from Saturday at the Planet Blue Stores, online or by mail order.

Fans queued overnight outside the ground to buy the limited edition shirt, which has so far been worn at QPR and Colchester.

In all, 2,000 shirts sold out in the space of only two hours on Saturday.

The shirt was created because the club's current white away shirt can not be used in several games this season against teams who wear blue and white.

The first batch included a three star emblem celebrating the three major trophies the club has won - the 1962 League Championship, 1978 FA Cup and 1981 UEFA Cup. However, the next batch will not carry the three star emblem.

Ipswich's sales and marketing director, Andrew Goulborn, said the club understood the frustrations and disappointment of those who could not get hold of the shirt.

He continued: “It has exceeded all our expectations. We based our figures on the white shirt sales of three years ago but the demand has clearly swamped that.

“Because of the demand we have now commissioned another batch of shirts that should be ready by the end of November.

“It's the fastest selling shirt we've had and because it was a first come, first served basis and limited edition, there have been some supporters who queued and didn't get one.

“Putting more on sale should hopefully mean that all those fans who want one, get one.”
